2020 Officer of the Year

In November 2020, a woman reported she had been shot at and provided the name of a male suspect. Gang Unit officers conducted surveillance at a known address where they observed a vehicle drop off two passengers. The plates came back registered to the shooting suspect. Officers Robert Seitzer and Robert Soldo located the vehicle near 8th and Fort Streets.

As they approached, the occupants fired multiple rounds at the officers. A pursuit began with multiple Gang Unit and Northeast Precinct cars responding. The suspects’ vehicle was stopped near 16th and Jaynes where the occupants were taken into custody without further incident. For exhibiting extreme bravery and the utmost in professionalism in a dangerous situation, Officer Robert Seitzer and Officer Robert Soldo were recognized as the 2020 Officers of the Year.
